Founded in 2022 by Kalpana Garg, an alumna of IIT Kharagpur (Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law), Umbrella Legal is an Indian law firm. Prior to establishing the law firm, Kalpana worked with the legal and intellectual property departments of some of the largest publicly-listed companies in India for almost a decade, providing her with an illustrious corporate counsel experience and a working understanding of business. Furthermore, as a patent agent, she has extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting patents, industrial designs, copyrights, and trademarks with Indian and foreign intellectual property offices. She has also advised startups, production houses, actors, entrepreneurs, and businesses on various legal issues, which has contributed to enhancing her overall legal and intellectual property expertise.
